It was weeks before my 45th birthday. I was having a moment of enlightenment. Something needed to change because I realized at that moment that what got me to where I was, wasn’t going to get me to where I wanted to go – well, at least not gracefully.
And I was tired of fighting.
You could say that my story started with my Mom’s death 12 years earlier. She passed away from breast cancer, and in that moment, I knew that I needed to do anything I could to prevent myself from also getting the disease.
After watching what cancer had done to her body and spirit, I was committed to learning everything I could about the disease, but more importantly, how not to get it.
What I never knew until that time was that being overweight was a huge risk factor for cancer as well as many other diseases that we as a culture just take for granted are diseases that come with age.
It doesn’t have to be that way.
The road from unhealthy to where I am today was not a straight path. I learned everything I could about diet & exercise, weight loss, and health in general – initially to help myself avoid getting any lifestyle related disease, but then switching careers from corporate executive to now executive health coach with one goal in mind: If I can help you avoid any lifestyle related disease, and live the healthiest that you desire, I will have fulfilled my life’s purpose.
On my quest for better health, I tried so many ways to hack my metabolism. I tried diet after diet, I worked out harder and longer.
It wasn’t until that day, on the eve of my 45th birthday, struggling with my body to make it a size that it wasn’t designed to be, that I realized that I needed to work with my body instead of against it.
The pieces that I was missing were how our hormones impact our health, healthy skills and habits.
And this is what I have built my coaching business on today.
