As a coach, I help my clients strip away all the nonsense – those things that distract us (Should I eat vegetarian or paleo? Should I do spin class or strength train? Should I eat that salad or ). Together, my client and I focus on the big rocks – those things that are easy to do, that make a HUGE impact in her life and get her the results that she wants.
And by big rocks, I don’t necessarily mean that they are huge obstacles. Sometimes they’re really simple things that we’ve just forgotten about, but that make significant differences in our health.
Then, as you can easily do the basics, and are getting results, only then do we start to fill in the gaps with more advanced concepts.
See, the reason that health seems so complicated, is that there isn’t ONE approach that works for everyone. Taking advice from a friend for what worked for her sounds like a solid approach, however her body may have very different dietary, exercise, stress and sleep needs.
As your coach, I help you take action doing those things that matter. By focusing on those habits that make a difference, you will have increased energy, better sleep, reduced cravings, and an appropriate appetite.
Good Coaches Tell you the Truth when No One Else Will
What areas will we work on?
As a coach, I work with my clients in the areas of nutrition, activity and exercise, stress management, and sleep management – because they’re all tied together.
- When we don’t sleep well, we eat poorly, we don’t feel like exercising, and become snappish with those around us.
- When we eat poorly, we don’t have energy to move, we sleep poorly, and can’t think straight.
- When we don’t move enough, we feel sluggish, we don’t sleep well,
- When we are stressed, we reach for foods that comfort us, we don’t sleep well, and the cycle continues.
Everyone’s body is different. A one size fits all approach does not work. That’s why you have friends who have done well on both the Atkins diet as well as a vegetarian diet. I help you find the foods that are right for you. I will never tell you that you can’t include a specific food in your diet. However, through our work, you may find that there are certain foods that you choose to omit because of how they make you feel.
I will help you through the process of finding the diet that makes you look and feel your best.
Activity and Exercise
You’re a busy person! You don’t have hours to spend in the gym. We’ll work with different techniques to figure out what techniques work best for your goals and busy lifestyle.
It’s the way that we respond to the events happening around us. Sometimes we seem to have it all handled, other times just having someone look at us the wrong way will send us over the edge.
Learn techniques that allow you to respond to stressful situations instead of reacting. If you’ve ever found yourself scouring your pantry after a conflict with your partner, co-worker or friend, I’ve got some techniques for you.
Sleep management is often overlooked as a source of health. And as much as our diet, exercise habits, and stress influence our sleep, our sleep also feeds back positively or negatively on those habit too.
It’s the critical piece in lasting change. Because the truth is, it’s not about the food. And it’s not about the workout. Sure! The food and fitness itself IS important. Nutrients can harm or heal us. Fitness helps us live full and functional lives. But the food itself is maybe 10% of the equation. The other 90% is the rest of our lives. Who we are. What we believe in. What stories we tell ourselves. What matters to us. It’s all the stuff we think, feel and do. (Or want to think, feel, and do.)
Is Coaching for Me?
Coaching is right for you if:
- You feel like you’ve tried everything and none of it is working
- You’re ready to get real with yourself.
- You’re tired of starting over. You need an approach that you can take for the next 20 years.
- You’re over fad diets, wraps, and cleanses.
- You just want to feel good, sleep well, and trust yourself again around a plate of brownies.
- You’re willing to trust the process.
Coaching is NOT right for you if:
- You’re still seeking that magic pill – that one nugget of information that’s going to instantly make you the size and shape you desire.
- You define your success as having a six-pack
- You’re not willing to trust someone else with your results.
- You’re not willing to try a new way of eating and moving.
Since starting coaching with Elizabeth I have lost 8# but more than the weight I have slowed my eating down, practiced making healthier choices, and stopped making food the priority in activities. I have become conscious of traps that form bad habits and now can choose a different direction to avoid them. – Chris
